Lunch & Food Rules
Children are expected to bring their own lunches every day. This should include a nutritious meal & drink. We
discourage children from eating too much sugar and junk food, so please no candy or soda.
The camp provides a snack for the children in the middle of the
morning and at mid-afternoon, at about 11 am and 3:45 pm. You may
also pack a snack. Food is served and eaten only in certain designated
areas. No eating inside the building.
Please do not take your child off grounds for lunch without letting us know; however, you are most welcome
to stop by and join your child for lunch. We encourage children to recycle glass, aluminum & plastic. Recycling containers are provided near
the trash containers.

All of your child's belongings and clothes (lunch bags, thermos,
backpacks, bathing suit, towels, books, toys, etc.) should be clearly
labeled with his/her name. Park Day Summer Arts Camp in not responsible

located near the check in/out area. Please check the container periodically
for your child's lost belongings. Unclaimed items are donated to
a charity or to an inner city school program at the end of the camp
season.
Illness
Please do not send your child to camp if he/she is not feeling well
or has a fever. We do not have the facilities or staff available
to care for them. If a child is well enough to attend camp, she/he
will be expected to go outside for lunch / recess. There is no indoor
supervision for sick children provided. If you child has a special
health need, please talk this over with either Moses or Judy. Our
staff will make efforts to provide a recuperating child with extra
rest. If a child becomes ill at camp or has a fever, parents (or,
if parents are unavailable, friends listed on the emergency form)
will be contacted and asked to take the child home ASAP. For insurance
and safety reasons, no medication will be administered by a staff
person unless special arrangements are made in writing with Moses
or Judy. Please discuss any special health considerations (physical,
emotional, social, psychological, learning, behavioral, etc.) for
your child with Moses or Judy. It is extremely important that we
are aware of your childıs needs.
Emergency Procedures
Upon enrolling children, parents are asked to provide detailed information concerning each childıs health, including
chronic illness or conditions, allergies, susceptibility to disease or injury, and any other medical considerations.
Copies of these forms are kept in kept confidential and on site.
In case of illness, accidental injury or emergency during the camp day, camp staff will contact parents at home or at
work immediately. We also ask parents to provide us with the numbers of relatives, friends or neighbors in the event we
are unable to contact them (parents) during school hours.
In the case of serious medical or health emergencies, camp officials will contact a local hospital for professional
advice or, if needed, ambulance service and/or treatment by a physician. Parents are asked to provide us with
information concerning emergency treatment preferences.
Each child must have an EMERGENCY FORM on file prior to the first day of camp. We cannot admit children into the
program without this form.
Communicable Diseases
Please do not send your child to camp with a communicable disease. Such diseases spread with alarming speed in a camp
setting and we need your help to insure the health of all of our campers. This is especially a concern with head lice
or symptoms of head lice: if your child is scratching their scalp more than usual, check for nits.
If your child or other family member has contracted a communicable disease*, you must inform Moses or Judy about:
(a) what disease your child has/has come in contact with (ie. chicken pox, measles), (b) probable date contracted and
where, (c) what the symptoms are, (d) what the treatment is, and (e) any other pertinent information, such as periods of
incubation and communicability, name of treating physician, when your child will return to camp, etc. Any child who has been absent from camp due to a communicable disease will be readmitted only with a physicianıs and camp administratorıs approval.
Park Day Summer Arts Camp will follow Alameda County Health Department procedures in the event of a suspected communicable disease.
*COMMON CUMMUNICABLE DISEASES: head lice, pin worms, scabies, other parasites, hepatitis, scarlet fever, mumps,
chicken pox, strep infections.
Property Damage
Parents are responsible for the full replacement of any camp/school property damaged by their child
(i.e. broken windows, acts of vandalism).
Picking up your child/dropping off: (Sign
in/out)
Please let Moses or Judy know in writing (leave us a note indicating who the authorized pick up people are) if you have authorized
anyone else to pick up your child. Children must be signed out before leaving the grounds. If you have an emergency and
cannot pick up your child by 5:30 pm, it is imperative that you call and let us know so that arrangements for your
child can be made. Our direct camp phone is: 510-719 8652 or 719 8781.
There is a late fee of $20.00 for late pick ups after 5:30 pm. Make arrangements for extended care to avoid these charges.
After 6:00 pm, if your child has not been picked up, the emergency contingency plan will allow your child to be picked
